Swatch: Rachel K CC Cream Renew Swatch

One of the pioneers in the CC (Color Control) cream industry, Rachel K Cosmetics has recently launched a new and improved version of its CC cream.

What, you might ask, is a CC Cream? Blemish Balm or beauty balm (BB) cream, the CC cream’s predecessor, was created by a dermatologist who wanted a product that was gentle on the skin of patients post-surgery. The more refined version of the BB cream, the CC (Color Control) cream has been adopted by brands worldwide and improved with added nourishing ingredients.

Rachel K CC Cream Renew

The Rachel K Cosmetics version is called the CC Renew. This new range has a unique Korean Deep Sea Water and Biomimetic Anti-Age Complex. This means the CC cream has been specially formulated to provide quick, easy remedies to repair skin damage and deliver long term skin care benefits as well as immediate results. In short, the more the use the Rachel K CC Renew, the better your skin will become!

I have honestly never been a real fan of BB creams because other BB creams I’ve used always gave me an ashy finish. But the formula of Rachel K CC creams has always provided a good match of my skintone.

Rachel K Cosmetics CC Cream

Previously available in Neutral and Original (black packaging), the new Rachel K CC Renew is now available in 3 different colors to match any skin color – Very Light, Light and Medium.

Rachel K CC Renew Swatches

Featherlight in texture and smooth to apply, this CC Renew has SPF 35++ which is a good alternative for tinted moisturizer. I recommend using it on a daily basis as a substitute for foundation. I’m using the shade Medium.

The Rachel K CC Renew works great on reducing my red blemishes (that’s why they call it a color control) and reducing pore visibility. Even the mole on my face is lightened! I love the coverage, almost akin to a foundation, and the radiance of my skin after using the CC cream.

Rachel K CC Renew Swatch After

Even though CC cream has all these great nourishing properties, you MUST remember that CC cream must be removed using make-up remover.

New Fragrances

Phew… I’m just getting to clear the back log of beauty posts. Because I’ve been traveling so much, the airplane seat has sort of become my second home now. I will be sharing a whole bunch of travel and eating posts soon but before that, I will share with you what I found sorting through my beauty stash… new fragrances! I love fragrances because they evoke such powerful emotions with each different smell.

Elizabeth Arden Untold Hugo Boss Jour Pour Femme Victoria's Secret Victoria

Fresh from my travels in Paris, I came back to discover the Hugo Boss Jour Pour Femme eau de parfum. I was quite happy to see the words jour pour femme as these were words I was quite well acquainted with after having had to order petite dejeuner, jambon and etc during my stay in Paris.

Going back to the fragrance, the new Boss Jour Pour Femme eau de parfum was created to show three faces of a woman: inspiration, composure and ease. Gwyneth Paltrow was the successful, multifaceted woman they picked to represent this fragrance.

I absolutely love how this commercial was shot! Better yet, after watching the clip, the fragrance lives up to the imagination and smells exactly like it was portrayed – light, bright and fresh. Wearing it makes me feel like day is breaking and that re-energizes and makes me feel empowered.

Hugo Boss Jour Pour Femme Eau De Parfum

I am particularly partial to the milky white bottle with a gold band and crystal, clear top cap. Putting three of my most favourite things in one bottle means it scores top marks in the aesthetic department. Plus the sleek and lean bottle oozes sophistication and class. Because it’s a 30ml size, I found it really handy to slip in my travel carry-on bag.

The Boss Jour Pour Femme eau de parfum can be described as a beautiful blend of white flowers chilled with sparkling citrus. The lightness and freshness elements of the eau de parfum come from the lime and grapefruit blossom in the top notes. They represent the liveliness of the first morning rays of light that radiate with positive anticipation.

Inspiration is represented in the Boss Jour Pour Femme eau de parfum by a rich bouquet of white flowers. Flowers of freesia, lily of the valley and honeysuckle make up this bouquet and celebrate the femininity and beautiful diversity of every woman. Composure is described in the eau de parfum with a more powerful, masculine finish. It includes accords of white birch and creamy amber. I love the blend and cannot get enough of this perfume.

Hugo Boss Pour Femme Jour Nuit Eau de Parfum

It’s sister perfume, the Boss Nuit (night) Pour Femme, was launched last year.

Next in my fragrance line up is the Elizabeth Arden Untold Eau de Parfum

Elizabeth Arden Untold Perfume

Elizabeth Arden says that the UNTOLD eau de parfum was designed to embody the many different facets of the modern woman. While some of these facets are apparent on the surface, others remain hidden, only to be revealed or discovered over time.

My photos do not do this gorgeous bottle any justice. It’s multi-facted curved surface reminds me of a diamond and is highly reflective of the story it wants to tell; a story that tells of the many different faces a woman has and her multi-dimentionalism.

Here’s a better photo.

Elizabeth Arden Untold

Like the UNTOLD woman, the Elizabeth Arden UNTOLD bottle leaves you to discover its many dimensions by getting up close and personal. The bottle is elegantly encased by the silver band – a representation of the stylish elegance every woman possesses.

Moving on to the fragrance, the classification of this new eau de parfum is more floral fruity above anything else. The top notes include Black Currant, Bergamot, Pink Pepper and Pear, which give way to the middle notes of Gardenia, Peony and Jasmine. Finally, the Sandalwood, Patchouli Heart, Musk and Amber are what truly draws me to this fragrance.

Elizabeth Arden Untold Eau De Parfum

The warm softness of this Elizabeth Arden UNTOLD eau de parfum is sensual yet alluring. I can picture myself wearing this fragrance with a flowy gown, gliding into an event or restaurant flushed with warm down lights using long, languid steps. Ahhh… tres chic.

Finally, the newest perfume I added to my collection is Victoria by Victoria’s Secret.

This iconic new fragrance by one of my favourite brands, Victoria’s Secret, is fresh and sexy – wee bit reminiscent of the other Victoria’s Secret perfumes I own. Fresh always scores top marks in my fragrance books, so this eau de parfum mixes things up a little bit with a sparkling blend of red berries, Victoria rose and crme brle. The result is a floral fruity fragrance that is girly, flirty yet not overwhelmingly sweet. I’ve been a big fan of Victoria’s Secret fragrances for sometime now and must give props to them for consistently getting their perfumes right.

The big pink metallic bow is adorable and reminds me of everything Victoria’s Secret – pink, bows, cute, adorable, fluffy and wings. The beveled glass bottle and cursive signature on the bottle’s front make it a lovely decorative piece to have on the vanity. This lovely addition is definitely going next to my other Victoria’s Secret perfume, Victoria’s Secret Angel. I’m just waiting for my real wings to complete the collection. 😉

Larry Yeo Valerie Lim

I have been very lucky to have worked closely with makeup guru, Larry Yeo, recently. Even happier that the tips and tricks I picked up while working with him is something I can share with all my readers. One recent post which Larry shared with me helpful tips was How to Conceal Dark Rings.

But now aside from sharing little makeup tips and secrets with you on, I will also be sharing them on a dedicated beauty portal called Beauty Destination.

Brought to you by L’Oreal Singapore, Beauty Destination is the NEW one-stop website where you will learn from experts like Larry and other makeup experts on top of interacting with ambassadors such as myself and Jessica from Tippytap. Furthermore, the website is chock full of beauty how-to videos, step-by-step guides and insider information about the newest L’Oral products. There is even a contest page on Beauty Destination where you will be able to bag a Samsung ATIV Book 9 Lite Notebook (worth SGD2000) because YOU’RE WORTH IT!

L'Oreal Singapore Les Ombre Eyeshadow Tutorial

Each month Beauty Destination teaches you something new and for the month of August, you will learn how to UPSIZE your eyes and create the DOLLY look with L’Oral’s new products. Larry is demonstrating in the above picture how and where you can apply eyeshadow to create bigger eyes. As we go through the tutorial with Larry, he explains that the star product of this look is the highly pigmented L’Oral Color Riche Les Ombres Eye Shadows.

L'Oreal Les Ombre Eyeshadows

In a whole array of stunning and sophisticated palettes, the Color Riche Les Ombres Eye Shadow is velvety smooth in texture and lasts up to 12 hours. You will love the brilliant colors and highly pigmented formula of this eyeshadow.

LOreal Les Ombres Eyeshadow Palettes Singapore

LOreal Les Ombre Eyeshadow Beige Trench Tropical Tutu Swatches

My personal favorites are Beige Trench and Tropical Tutu. The former is the perfect companion for a subtle yet sophisticated daily look. Colors are always fun and the carnival of colors from the Tropical Tutu palette is right up that alley. If you are a fan of the smoky eye, Velour Noir (black palette) is just what you’re looking for.

At a recent L’Oral Paris Beauty Workshop, bloggers and I got upclose and personal with the makeup guru, Larry, as he demonstrated how to use these Color Riche Les Ombres Eye Shadow palettes alongside upcoming L’Oral makeup products.

L'Oreal Singapore Beauty Workshop Larry Yeo

Just as you will learn how to UPSIZE your eyes with the products in the videos and guides on Beauty Destination, Larry demonstrated the how-to on me and here are the tips and tricks he shared with us during the workshop.

LOreal Singapore Makeup Beauty Products

The products used are:

1. Color Riche Les Ombres Eye Shadow Palette in Beige Trench
2. Super Liner Automatic Slim Liner
3. Super Liner Brow Design Pro
4. Lash Architect 4D Mascara
5. Rouge Caress Heart of Pearl Lipstick
6. Color Infallible Eye Shadow in Eternal Black
7. Super Liner Black Lacquer Liquid Liner

Step 1
L'Oreal Singapore es Ombres Eyeshadow Tutorial

Cover the entire eye lid up to the crease with theL’Oral Color Infallible Eye in Eternal Black. This works as a color base to intensify the colors applied over later. Here Larry is using his ring finger to apply the eyeshadow on my lid.

The finished result should look something like this depending on where your crease ends.

L'Oreal Singapore Les Ombres Eyeshadow Makeup Tutorial

My eyelid crease is quite thin so the area covered is quite little.

Step 2
L'Oreal Singapore Eyeshadow Makeup Tutorial

Next, we’re going to use the brown of the L’Oral Color Riche Les Ombres Beige Trench Palette on the OUTER CORNER of the eyes up to the eye socket. Basically, it raises the ending point of the eyeshadow creating larger eyes. Layering the Color Riche Les Ombres eyeshadow over the Color Infallible eye shadow intensifies the brown making the lash line darker.

Step 3
L'Oreal Les Ombre Eyeshadow Tutorial

To further intensify use the L’Oral Automatic Slim Liner, draw very close to the lash line, even dotting between the lashes. This pencil liner is easy to control as the lead of the L’Oral Automatic Slim Liner is sturdy and can be applied with decent pressure.

Tip: Instead of using your hands to pull the skin around the eye area during eyeliner application, tilting your head upwards at a 45-degree angle and looking downwards exposes your eyelid too. This technique also allows the tip of your eyeliner to get closer to your upper lash line.

L'Oreal Les Ombre Eyeshadow Tutorial Workshop

Step 4
L'Oreal Singapore Super Liner Eyeliner Tutorial

To really supersize your eyes, you can see in this picture that Larry created winged eyeliner on BOTH the top and bottom lids.

L'Oreal Singapore Super Liner Eyeliner Tutorial

The secret to super-sizing your eyes is drawing the wing FROM the bottom lid. You won’t go wrong once you follow the natural curve of your bottom eyelid. Extend the wing 1cm past your eyes for maximum dramatic effect.

L'Oreal Les Ombre Eyeshadow Tutorial

After that, draw your eyeliner on the upper lid as you normally would and then, match the ends of the bottom and top line together. Fill the space in between the lines to ensure continuity. You can see that the eyeliner on the top lid is quite thick.

L'Oreal Singapore Beauty Destination Eye Makeup Tutorial

The Super Liner Black Lacquer Liquid Liner is a very consistent black liner regardless of how long you draw the line. One stroke of the brush and your winged liner is set. Then, curl your lashes and use the Lash Architect 4D mascara to create the wide-eye dolly look.

Step 5
LOreal Shine Caresse Lipsticks

To balance the large eyes, Larry used the brand new Heart of Pearl Lipstick in Peach & Cute (such a cute name!) on me. The Heart of Pearl Lipstick is named as such because the center of the lipstick is a unique pearl core that gives your lips a beautiful 3D luminous shine.

An extension of the Shine Caresse Lippies Lip Tint I previously swatched, the 6 pearly colors are highly moisturizing. I am a sucker for the pretty little pearl bits that dance on my lips.

And this is the finished face of the day!

L'Oreal Les Ombres Face of the Day

Significantly bigger eyes and a glowing lip color!

SilkyGirl Magic BB White Powder Foundation Review

Sponsored Post

I have gone on a foundation spree recently. I like trying new foundation and normally demand great coverage for this product because a good foundation is one of the most important basic make up must-haves. Not only does it act as the base for the rest of your face makeup, a good foundation should even out skin tone and brighten your complexion.

SilkyGirl Magic BB White Powder Foundation Natural

I picked up about 3 or 4 new foundations and among the haul was the SILKYGIRL Magic BB White Powder Foundation. This new foundation is the solution to dull, tired looking skin.

On a daily basis, if you want your foundation to look natural yet give enough coverage for all your imperfections, the SILKYGIRL Magic BB White Powder Foundation does just that. My main skin concern is broken capillaries and I’m impressed with how this BB powder foundation can effectively conceal that! No concealer needed! I also love the matte finish this foundation gives.

SILKYGIRL Magic BB White Foundation Swatch

For my day-to-day makeup face of the day, I sweep a light layer of the SILKYGIRL Magic BB White Powder Foundation with a fluffy brush before finishing off the look with eyeliner, a coral blush and natural lippie color. The coverage is sufficient for a flawless face that lasts up to 8 hours.

The foundation’s magic lies in ?-White – an innovative ingredient that effectively brightens and lightens skin tone. Aside from that, Silica is also found in the SILKYGIRL Magic BB White Powder Foundation to ensure shine-free skin; Vitamin E keeps skin moist, soft and younger-looking while SPF 30/PA++ protects from your skin from harmful UV rays. As you consistently wear the BB White Powder Foundation, Kernel Butter protects and repairs skin, and White Lily Extract provides moisturizing effects to the skin.

SilkyGirl Singapore Magic BB White Powder Foundation

Coming in a pressed powder format, the convenient fuss-free compact is small enough to slip into your clutch for quick touch-ups. Available in 4 shades that fit the Asian skin perfectly Ivory, Natural, Medium and Rose Beige the first three have a slightly yellow undertone while the latter is meant for those with pink undertones.

Pucker up this Summer

I have been very pampered recently. I have been on the receiving end of many luxurious beauty products. And because my schedule has been packed with some high profile events, I’ve had the chance to get creative with the products at these events. Although I don’t always blog about them, you can find out more about where and what I’ve been up to on Instagram. 😉

Miss Universe Singapore Face of the Day

Recently at the Miss Universe Singapore 2013 press conference, I sported red lips for my make up face of the day. This 2013 Spring/Summer makeup trends see lots of bold, bright colors. Looking to the runway, Pat McGrath at Prada, Lucia Pieroni at Giles and Wendy Rowe at Burberry Prorsum all opted for bright, velvety shades that popped amidst otherwise pared-back beauty looks. Whether its fashion or makeup, add a pop of color to your style profile with these brand new lippies.

Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited Lancome Rouge in Love

Among my new stash, Shu Uemura’s Gloss Unlimited lipglosses, Lancome Rouge in Love and Maybelline’s Bold Matte and Neo Nude lipsticks.

Maybelline Bold Matte Neo Nude Lippie

The Maybelline Bold Matte series consists of strong and striking colors, while NEO Nude is for the girl who prefers her nude corals and sweet pinks. The latter range is a limited edition range available just for summer! I was sent Bold Matte Cheeky Coral (blazing orange), NEO Nude NEO6 (a sweet pink with blue undertones) and the Maybelline Bold Matte Hot Pink (bright reddish-pink).

The new Maybelline Bold Matte lippies glide on well and as the name suggests, leave a matte finish identical to the runway looks of Spring/Summer 2013. Reapply 2 or 3 coats for bold, strong colors. They will be introduced permanently to the Maybelline lip range.

Lancome Rouge in Love

When I’m in the mood for a lightweight yet striking lip color, I reach for Lancome’s Rouge in Love lipsticks. I’ve been a long time user of the Rouge in Love lippies and love the hydrating and lightweight texture of the lippies. As comforting as a balm, I usually opt for the peachy pink (244N) for a hint of color on my lips.

Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited

Last but certainly not the least of the loot, Shu Uemura’s new Gloss Unlimited. Thank you Shu Uemura for reigniting my love for glosses. These glosses give a lasting mirror shine to the lips and I cannot begin to describe my love for glossy luscious pouts.

Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited Swatches

As swatched above, I received the a pink (AT60C) from the Clear range, a creamy color with lacquered shine and no pearls, a glittery red (RD10G) with strong sparkles and 2 from the Shimmer range dedicated to a subtle and delicate sheen. What is interesting about these glosses is the memorizing technology. Shu Uemura engineered these glosses to follow the movement of the lips ensuring a longer lasting shine, ensuring you go about your daily activities without bleeding of your Gloss Unlimited.

Face of the Day Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited

I used the clear pink (AT60C) recently at the Creatively Thai fashion show was impressed that the gloss survived the night despite the heat from bright lights, eating and non-stop smiling. I haven’t been using glosses for a while but am thoroughly crazy about these new Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited lippies that give ajuicy finish and brilliant shine.

Thank you Shu Uemura for sending the Gloss Unlimited, Maybelline for the Bold Matte lipsticks and also Lancome for the Rouge in Love lippies! Iforesee myself continuing to have colorful lips and the perfect pout in the future. 😉

I hope you girls have as much fun experimenting with colors on your lips as I did!
